julius erolin comes to One Ummah Consulting with extensive experience working with employers and organizations resolve discrimination issues and foster inclusive and diverse environments. A trained and experienced investigator, mediator and facilitator, he specializes in complex and sensitive issues related to cross-cultural conflict, diversity, harassment, equal opportunity and affirmative action. He also advises clients on recruitment, retention and management of diverse workforces, and provides interactive skill-based training and educational programs that promote understanding and inclusiveness to enhance workplace performance and community relationships.
julius is currently an Equal Opportunity Consultant for the University of Minnesota's Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action. He provides expertise and University-wide leadership in equal opportunity law and policy, affirmative action compliance, and best practices in workplace diversity management. He handles and helps resolve discrimination complaints, provides mediation and conflict-resolution services, and develops and delivers workshops and educational programs.
Prior to joining the University of Minnesota, julius was the Director of Equal Opportunity and Diversity at the St. Paul Housing Agency where he lead the development and implementation of the Agency’s diversity plan. He established the Agency’s Equal Opportunity and Diversity Department, improved the recruitment and retention of employees of color, and provided training tailored to the workplace needs and contexts of Agency employees. julius also has more than 10 years of experience working with students, staff and faculty to enhance the recruitment and retention of students of color in higher education. He led the development and implementation of innovative programs, worked with faculty to develop and teach multicultural curricula, and provided direct support services to diverse students and staff.
julius’ work is driven by his commitment to equity and diversity. He believes in the power of social justice, dialogue and effective conflict resolution to transform individuals, relationships, institutions and communities. His ability to reach out to diverse groups, facilitate authentic dialogues, bridge differences and build consensus has helped individuals and organizations build inclusive and multicultural environments.
julius is a native of the Philippines and immigrated to the United States at the age of twelve. He has a degree in English from UCLA and graduated from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. He also studied English literature and biology at Exeter University in England and Spanish language and culture at the Universidad de Guadalajara in Mexico.
